As part of her Master’s thesis, Sarah Breidenstein is researching the ‘Influence of singing bowl applications on the stress system activity and cellular immune activity of a patient with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) – an integrative individual case study’.
The innovative research design of the integrative individual case study developed at the University of Innsbruck provides precise information about the psychoneuroimmunological condition of the test person. This work shows that the influence of sound massage can have a positive effect not only on the cardiovascular system and mental well-being, but also on the stress and immune system (especially in SLE patients). Sarah Breidenstein therefore recommends that sound massage should be further investigated as a potential therapy and considered as a treatment option for people with autoimmune diseases.
